The project was conceptualized keeping in mind the interrelationship of indoor and outdoor spaces. After departmentalizing the different spaces we came up with the huge rectangular plan. Two voids were created in the rectangular floor plate as courtyards which would act as refuge green spaces for the patients and their relatives. The vertical zoning was conceptualized as, keeping the ground floor as the outdoor patient department zone, the first floor as the indoor patient department zone including the blood bank and the second floor as the OT complex and deluxe rooms.
The ground floor comprises the double-height reception area with an emergency block adjacent to the reception area. As wemove further into the reception area we have the daycare as well as both the courtyards on opposite sides of the building placed diagonal to each other to give a break in the long rectangular floor plate. We have a total number of 8 OPDs’ in clusters of four with separate waiting areas. The ground floor also consists of the radiology department as well as the physiotherapy block at the end of the building.
